Characteristics Hexagonal BN presents white powder, loose, lubricant and hygroscopic, and its crystal is similar to graphites’, so it is also known as “white graphite”. Its theoretic density is 2.27g/cm3. Hexagonal BN is insoluble in cold water, and decomposes very slowly in boiling water and produces boric acid and nitrogen. It won’t react with weak acid or strong alkali at room temperature. Moreover, it is slightly soluble in hot acid, and decomposes in melt sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.

Applications Hexagonal boron nitride is a perfect material which is non-toxic, high- temperature resistant, corrosion resistant, and has high-thermal conductivity, high insulation and lubricity. It is widely used for high-temperature lubricants, high-temperature resistors, additives, insulation and heat dispersion parts at high temperature and pressure, preparing cubic BN, and etc..
