Metal molybdenum is widely used as heating material and structural material for high temperature electric furnace, large electrode and grid of vacuum tube, semiconductor and electric light source material. Because the thermal neutron capture cross section of molybdenum is small and has high persistence strength, it can also be used as a structural material for nuclear reactors.

Molybdenum is used mainly in lubricants, catalysts and pigments in chemical industry.

Molybdenum disulfide has good lubrication performance at high temperature and high pressure because of its lamellar crystal structure and its surface chemical properties. It is widely used as an additive in oil and oil. Molybdenum is a catalyst component for hydrogen production desulfurization and other petroleum refining processes. The application of molybdenum in iron and steel industry still occupies the most important position. As the alloying element of steel, molybdenum can improve the strength of steel, especially the strength and toughness of high temperature, improve the corrosion resistance of steel in acid and alkali solution and liquid metal, improve the wear resistance of steel and improve the hardenability, weldability and heat resistance. Molybdenum is a good element to form carbide. It does not oxidize in the process of steelmaking. It can be used alone or in conjunction with other alloying elements.

Molybdenum bar used as stuffing material is to plastify PVC (grid, etc. calcium carbonate heavy accounts for 10%~30 %,), UPVC (rigid PVC door and window, profiled bar and plate account for 5%~20%), unsaturated PC sheet molybdenum bar (cars, appliances, etc.), Polypropylene (furniture, car, package and fiber). With molybdenum bar and calcium carbonate heavy, plastic will have lager space, and can decrease cost. Meanwhile, they can take advantage of molybdenum properties.

Molybdenum bar in paper making industry  Molybdenum bar used in paper making industry can increase paper brightness, solid structure, and dry speed. Molybdenum instead of wood pulp and other pigments can improve paper's brightness, opacity, porosity, bulk density and so on. Although the use of acid-base environment for production is available, molybdenum is available, too. At present, the application of molybdenum bar in paper making industry has increase from 5% to 10%.
